actually i think 8x agp's are backward compatible to 4x...so u can get an 8x agp but will only run at 4x

Exactly, so why wouldn't an AGP 8x card work? AGP 8x is infact backwards compatible.

This 6600GT will run FEAR reasonably well, but not maxed out.

a vanilla 6800 will run FEAR even better if you can still find one in AGP.

Oh, I didn't know AGP 8x could run in 4x. That's nifty. In that case, get one of the above mentioned 6 series cards.

fear... such a high demanding game... my 256 integrated graphics card can't handle it too well... well i wasnt sure what settings i was running, but still... took it rough

I went looking for videocards, the 6 series are only for 8x, so my options would have to be the RADEON 9250 128MB, or the GeForce FX 5200, 5500. so basically I'm going to have to get a new motherboard, which one should I get?
