A friend told me about this.I did not see it for myself. He said this computer man had this external (i guess hard drive) gadget and had all these software programs in it and asked my friend who he sold the computer to what software he wanted I am asking does anybody know about such a thing

Probably a jump drive. I've a 2 GB Corsair flash drive and I've got tons of software on it. It connects through a USB port and is really small.
