My hard drive stays between 97-99 degrees farenheit

It's a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 160 gig UATA/133

It's piggybacked on my Quantum Fireball HD

Not really, You could a fan on it.. Never know when a HD will die of overheating. better safe then sorry.

Im not sure, maybe you could find a forum for that harddrive brand and take a poll for "normal" operation temp.

Then if you don't know what "normal" operating temp should be, how can you say if it's high or not?

seems normal to me, in celcius it's running 36 degrees which doesn't seem to hot to me.
