XP username issue

I've got a problem with XP usernames:

When setting up my computer I set the username to something random, and then changed it using the control panel -user accounts method. However, when installing programs, and at other times, it will show the old username. Is there a method, for example using regedit, to properly change the username down to the deepest level, so that the old username never reappears?

Is there a way you can change the username properly, so that, for example, when you go to C:documents and settings it displays the new username rather than the one you originally entered when setting up windows?

you can go to local users and groups and delete it and then make a new one
