i want to purchase a new PCI videocard, what should I know about my computer to get the a compatible videocard?

if you have an open pci slot, if you have an agp slot, if you have a pcie slot......if you have an agp slot, use it......pcie is the newer technology but it's gains over agp are slim at the moment. last resort is to get a pci video card as it will fight w/the other components on your board that use the same bus, for info, in effect, slowing the system down.

That's PCI, right? Do you have an AGP port? If not, your choices of new cards is limited.
