Microphone not workin!!

hey i just got an new computer and my old microphone isnt working any idea why this would happen. it works fine on my old one.

Hi, you could try and install newer drivers and afew test programs as well. And if that still doesn't work please let me know and tell if any error messages come up and what they say and then i will be able to help you even more.

what drivers should i install?

are you using a built-in audio on the motherboard?
or you have ur own sound card?

if its your motherboard, just search for the motherboard's brand name and model and type audio driver with it

if its your sound card itself, get the cd and reinstall it
or download the driver of the sound card's brand and model

i have a dell XPS and i cant find the drivers anywhere.

make sure mic is unmuted in the sound / volume properties (little speaker). You may have to enable mic to mute or unmute. Also, certain cards (like SBLive!) have a seperate sound properties that you must also check.
