window update - validating error

Good Evening,

I can't valiadate my window xp sp1 to update my windows,Is dher any other way..coz im not using the online activated version.But my xp home edtion is orginal but is asked to register online which i could not because it has been few times i installed using the same cd.I think my error because i replaced the .wpl file.Now its not bugging me for activation but i cant update my machine, the lil window icon appear n disappear before updating.i went to download page for update, but i dun knw which update do i need.Please Guide..Using Window Xp sp1.

call MS and get a new install id. tell them you got a virus and reformatted your cmputer

Then how do i get back the activation window back, i change the .wpl file...?

ever since sp2 that don't seem to work anymore. Back your OS up with something like drive image
