I've got a generic question. Any of the new higher end machines from Dell,HP,IBM,etc have the PCI-X slots that run at 64bit/100MHz. I need to know for sure if I can plug in a PCI (2.2) card that runs at 64bit/66MHz without any functional problems. My understanding is that the PCI-X standard is backward compatible and that the bus will run at the speed of the slowest component on it, but I'd really like to know for sure.
Thanks.

My understanding is that a card is backward compatible, but not the slot.
The MB clock is static, it cannot be changed automatically.
It's safe for a card working at lowwer frequecy, so card is backward compatible.
