Choosing a motherboard

Okay my dad needs a new motherboard and I just need a bit of help helping him. I need to:

Know how to find out my CPU's socket
and know how to find my graphics card PIN number

CPU-z will show you what type of mobo and cpu you have. And why do you need to get your vid card pin?

CPU-z or Everest will tell you what you want to know. Google it and all will be well, or I think there is a link to it in one of the stickies, check them out.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I cant get onto the internet on that comp at the moment as it (was screwed up anyway) and is now disassembled.

If you had a reference picture of the socket could you tell by looking at the socket?

If so, search for the socket names on google.
