Is this a decent non-gaming system?

Working on a 6 yr old Compaq PC has motivated me to build from scratch and this is what I have come up with. I am not a gamer, BTW.

DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D
D452-2030-main.jpg

AMD Athlon64 3000+ Venice core
CP1-A64-30009-E-main.jpg

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 160gig SATA HD
TSD-160M.jpg

xFx GeForce 6600LE video card
P450-7274-main.jpg

pqi Turbo DDR SDRAM 2x512mb

Sunbeam NUUO 550 watt PSU
yhst-15623121986395_1876_5515488

RaidMax xA case
11-156-043-17.JPG

ASUS DVD/CD burner combo drive
27-135-131-01.JPG

Samsung floppy drive

I am building off this platform so that I have room for growth and improvement in the future, at the moment I just want a reliable and faster machine than what I currently have....a 697mhz Celeron w/320mb ram(Compaq)

If your not going to game/overclock, then dont bother with the DFI lanparty, you could get away with a cheaper motherboard.

Also go with a better PSU like Antec, Enermax, OCZ or Fortron.
But I'd like to know that I have a solid foundation upon which I could game and OC should I decide to

What, besides the name, is your complaint about the PSU I chose?

Well if you buy a cheap no-name psu, then you run the risk of F***ing up your system. I think that most people here will agree.

Get a better psu

go with antec, OCZ, enermax, vantec, fortron, etc.

i would say save up a little more and go with a 6600GT not an LE even if you arent gaming :)

Also people dont like maxtor i wold go with seagate or WD

This PSU was chosen by way of recommendation by a guy with a screen name of Angry_Games, a tech for DFI and an immensely knowledgeable person. The point is, just because you haven't heard of something doesn't mean it's a cheap, no-name.

Everyone keeps saying get a better PSU, but nobody can give any reasons for that other than not being familiar with their name or product. Not being familiar with a product is not reason to label it not worthy.

What reason should I go with a GT considering i'm not a gamer?

What is the hang up with the Maxtor drives? I have one currently in my Compaq, same as the one above, and haven't had any problems with it. But if it's generally a bad piece then maybe I should consider going with another. I'll start looking at the Seagate/WD units, thanks.

PERSONALLY, I would:
get a 6600GT. Why get a LE and then decide later you want to game, then trash it? Just spend the extra $ to get a gt, it's not much either.
I have an MSI K8N Neo4-F, and I game. I love it thus far.
How much is that ram? I'd go with some corsair valueselect.
What are the amps on that psu?
And finally, I'd get a Coolermaster Cavalier
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811119082
or Coolermaster Centurion
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811119077
or maybe the Nzxt Trinity, like the one in my sig.

As I said, this is personal, but it's also performance and such. I know the Coolermasters I recommended are great cases and would look nice too, same with the nzxt.

That power supply sucks. get an Antec or FPS group PSU if you're on a budget.

Awesome point on the video card;)

The RAM is $97, $77 after MIR. I thought the "valueselect" was the cheapy stuff, guess not as it's been recommended by a few people. Looks like it's a bit cheaper than the one I wanted too, which is a good thing as far as price goes, but why are you suggesting against the PQI?

I don't care for the cases you posted, while the drive door is a nice look, it's just something I don't particularly care for.
