Im on a Budget of about $600 for a Gaming PC to run most all games that price does not include O/S or monitor. I was thinking an AMD 2200+, 256mb ram, 80gb HD, RADEON 9600 video card and dvd-rom/cd-rw combo drive. Would this be a good enough system to game with? Also can i find it this cheap and if so where do i buy? I found some good refurbished computer from T.D. for like $400 with this and more but without graphics cards. Are those any good? Thanks for your help. Oh and what would be a good budget Video card?

I think for around $450 you can get...

Abit AN7 motherboard
256MB PC3200
128MB 9600
40GB hard drive
and a 16x dvd drive

That's plenty.

I hope this isnt advertising but a good online sight is newegg.com I priced out a comp with amd 2800 with a 120gb hard-drive and a chaintech motherboard, powmax case, 512 DDR, and the recently price dropped radeon 9800 pro graphics card for about 600-700 but since you said you wanted it equal to or less than 600 you could probably get a slower processor and maybe a smaller harddrive and still meet your budget.

*grinz* I spelled site wrong, hehe guess I shouldnt be up so early......(points an accusing finger at Bedford public schools)

ohh please please, get more ram =/, if you're actually going for a gaming pc, you'll want to stick with at least 512, get rid of the pc3200 and goto 2700, this way they're both running at a fsb of 266mhz, found some crappy ram that was pc3200 @ 512mb's for only 92.00, go ahead and get that, but on a budget of 600, you're not going to get far, but you'll need to stick to the best you can do, best video card possible, as most ram you can afford... My computer is probably @ like 1500 or more right now, i've spent a lot on it, but i have like the best of everything in there really, if not the best, it's because i prefered it over what others did

since you going amd, get the 2500+ and upgrade your ram to 512mb. If you go to newegg,

here is a good site for custom computers, I configured a computer and it came out to $586 (USD)
and don't but a CD-RW DVD-RW combo drive from those places, cause it will cost a ton, go to newegg and find one for $40
