I'm going to have to say the Raptor
Consider this, cache size will be able to be read/written at the burst speed, which is 300MB/sec on SATAII connections. That of course only applies to the 16MB of data stored in the cache, the rest of the drive is still going to be spinning at 7200RPM and thus the overall drive bandwidth I'd say would be 80-90mb/sec
The Raptor only has 8MB of cache, meaning only 8MB of data can be accessed at the burst rate of 300MB/sec...however the drive itself spins roughly 1/3 faster than the other 7200RPM drives therefore overall data access would be a lot faster and I'd say close to 120mb/sec
Seek times alone speak for themselves, 9ms vs 4ms...even if you were to RAID0 the Maxtors seek time would still probably be around 5-6ms depending on a bunch of variable...plus Maxtors are of course unreliable and I wouldn't want to RAID0 them anyways
Raptor for the win
