Getting sound card to work

If adding a sound card to a motherboard that has an on board sound chipset, do I have to disable the on board sound to enable the added sound card?? If so where is this done??

Yes, I believe it's done through control panel > sounds and audio devices > hardware.

It's been a long time since I did it. It's easy though.


Edit: Mine, for example was "microsoft UAA function driver...." Highlight it, click properties and disable that mofo. Your driver may be slightly different, just look for anything that says anything to the effect of "internal audio".

no you don't, my friend has his speakers hooked upto his sound card n his headset to his onboard... but whatever works for you.
