The monitor still works great after 5 years. Anyone that has the technical knwledge, could you take a look at the specs and tell me if I would benefit from a newer 17" CRT? I'm Building a new PC and would like to know if a newer 17/19 inch CRT could enhance my viewing/gaming expierence. Thanks.

well it depends.

How much was your old monitor when it was new?

Unless your monitor is like mine (flickers) you dont need to replace it

i dont replace my monitor because im too cheap.

I paid $500 for this back in 2000. Totally flicker free. I run it at 100Hz 800x600. 1024x768 seems too... small/blurry for my eyes.

personally, i think 1024*768 is a requirement.

you see alot more on web pages

if your gonna look at 800*600, your monitor is really good

my monitor is 5 years old as well, but i paid $150 new for it.

is that the same monitor as you posted? or do you have a different one?

dont think that you should buy a new one if the old one works fine. you save some dough that can go into better parts for your build...

Hey, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" so, if it's not broke there's no need to buy a new one...At least in my opinion, I have like a 10 year old Sony, it's dying, I got a couple of dead pixels but I don't feel like spending $300 right now on a new CRT.

just my 10 cents :)
