i have a 1.2 GB hard drive and a 3.0 GB hard drive in storage.
(both from old computers)

i am wondering if i can install windows xp on the 3.0 GB hard drive

what are the HD requirements for XP?
does SP1 use less room that SP2?

or is windows 2000 a better OS to install on a 3.0 GB hard drive?

XP requires about 1.5 gb i believe without service packs, so u wont have alot of room for programs.

one of my friends wants xp

his machine is a dell dimension 300 mhz (pentium 2?)

and he has no hard drive

How much ram does he have in the computer?

Your hdd seems a bit small for xp I would reccomend atleast 10 gb so that you would have room for extra programs and service packs.

the computer has 128 MB RAM, all he needs is web surfing and maybe office 2000. i think windows xp pro without any service packs, updates, should only take 1.5 GB and office takes 400 MB. that leaves 1.1 GB as free space.

i may just sell him my 40 GB hard drive, and install xp on my new 200 GB (still in plastic, lol)

how much should i sell a 40 GB hd for? $60?
Its western digital, and i paid $120 new
