Reformatting Question

I am in the process of reformatting my hard drive and it always stops on 12%, this is the third time, any ideas?

Try cleaning the disk.If that dosent work look for a big scratch.Though ive not tried it are places thta fix CD's.

oops : A hard drive isn't a cd disk.

Try fdisk first to remove this partition.Then format.Are you formating from a system floppy ?

xp pro...running from a cd....its at 16% but still its been almost 2 hrs

I must admit i,m not up on XP.How big is this HD ?
This sounds more like a complete Scandisk.

As i said,i,m not up on XP and kind of dissapointed no one else has tried to help.
Why are you formating ? Is XP pro not working and you want to do a new install ?
I aint goin nowhere,so lets finger this out.

I have some viruses on my hard drive and they are blocking any patches from being downloaded...so itll just be easier to reformat...I dont have anything important that i cant get back

but it seems too late.So go to bed and wait it out or press the reset.
