Deleting the information is a crime, I think its concelement of evidence, thefor if they ever found out about you doing that, you'd get in a heap load of more trouble. I'm not saying this to be mean, because if this is for real I share a great deal of pain with you. Just for information purposes:

Data is only totaly unretrievable off a harddrive when, the Drive platters are completly destroyed, they physically have to be in hundreds of pieces. A VERY powerful magnet will also wipe the data but, the safest way to make sure data is never seen is to go at the HD with a sledge hammer for a few hours.

Again the only way to lose data is to destroy the hard drive. Also Eric how does that program best the good old 7 format of the hard drive.

Yeah, getting rid of all the files on the hdd will only lead to more suspicion by the police. By destroying those files it only shows the police that you DO have something to hide. It might also be illegal but im not sure. I think the best way would be to keep the files and tell them that you were with them or whatever even inadvertently. My friend got arrested for something he really didnt do and pleaded guilty and he only had to do a night in juvenile prison when it was almost 1 week before. I am not saying that you will go to juvi, just that if you admit to being present they might back off some.

you have to wipe the hdd 7 DIFFERENT Way for it to to be technically unrecoverable. EE wipes it 10 different ways
