Not sure if this is the right area but...

Ok, so Christmas is comming up, that means I get money(yay)! So i figure ill update my computer, but I have no idea what to fix first...I know my processor is junk and I'll probably need to get a new mobo, and maybe a video card . Anyways, here are my specs...any suggestions on what to get , aprox prices, or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated...
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz
Memory: 736MB RAM
Page File: 430MB used, 1372MB available <-- whats that?
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Display Memory: 256.0 MB
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Hard Drive: 80 gigs (meh)
Sound Card: Cobra thingy or whatever I don't care about that

Ask for anything else that might be needed.

Oh...and my main objective is to pay as little as i can, but be able to use new games in the future( heh...laggy wc3...CoD...yeah...).

Wow, i have almost the same exact computer you have. I wanted to upgrade my mobo and cpu and then found out that my video card was AGP and so..... It became quite expensive to upgrade. Then i just decieded to build a new computer all together. heh

Yeah what socket processor do u have? It may be time for a new system. What do u want to do with it?

Otherwise get a Nvidia 6600gt or a 6800gt (agp) or 6800gs if pci-e. You could buy a new processor too like a 3.0 Pentium. Also get a total of 1gb of ram.

Yea i'd say a new system makeover with mobo, processor, vid card, and maybe ram. What's your budget? I know it's hard to tell because you dont know what you're getting for christmas but can you guess?

Yup thats about right, right now i have around 140, probly gett at least another 150. I don't know i asked for money and a tv or computer parts :p so...yeah I'll probly get around 300-450(if I can con my mom into giving me the child allowence and maybe some money from my dad :p )

Also i might be getting a radion 9200 for free do you think that could work? like as apposed to having to get mobo ram cpu and vida card :p maybe just cpu and mobo possibly ram

Yeah what socket processor do u have?
Beats me I vaguely remember something about max of 478 pin p4 or something in the mobo book but that was like 2 years ago. Know how i can check?

Also what about getting a mobo without a sound card to cut prices? Think i can get a good one without one, I have a spair sound card (sad story involving my feet pulling my headset out of the back and runing the port )

And...yeah that's my ramble for the day

PS: THANKS FOR REPLYING, the other place i posted got 0 replies!

Well, looks like you are socket 478 (old) and have a 4x agp slot...

Time for a upgrade:

$70

Total $466.

You will probably have to upgrade your power supply too...

$40

I honestly think this is the best move for you. But if its too much money, then I will configure something to your current system.
