Or if you really need to get an ati agp, I guess go with the all-in-wonder x800xt which is 290$ on newegg
but that's only if you're limited to agp ati

Wow, $290 for an X800XT. If this is the case, just go with the new 6800GS(AGP) which pwns the X800XT for around $200.

6800gt = overpriced.
x800 anything = crap.

Sorry but id upgrade if you have any money. 7800gt is best bang for your buck high end card and 6800gs is best bang for your buck mid-range card.

Cheers.

Trust us, we know what we're talking about.

what's your CPU socket?

socket 939: MSI K8N Neo4-F - $81.50
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130491
+ 7800 GT

socket 754: MSI K8N Neo3-F - $69
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130493
+ 7800 GT

socket 775: Gigabyte GA-8I915PL - $64
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128287
+ 7800 GT

those boards have PCI-E 16X slots. I'd strongly recommend you do get PCI-E 16X, because:
1. you can get the 7800 GT
2. you can get future PCI-E cards
3. if you upgrade your CPU and maybe motherboard, you probabbly won't have to upgrade the video card also

i got a 478 socket on my p4 2.4ghz cpu. i also looked on newegg and found some good cards for under 300 but not sure yet.

Go with an AGP 6800GS because it has SM 3.0, on par with a 6800GT or X800XT, and its only $200. not only that, but the drivers alone are worth it.

yeah your right they dont cuz i just looked on newegg and there all pci-e. well here is my decision i got a 7800gtx in my hands but could sell it and get a agp card and not have to upgrade to pci-e or i could keep it and save up to upgrade my cpu and mobo to use the gtx. decisions decisions.
