Any of you guys have any opinions or experience with these two cards? im looking into buying one of them but am not sure which one is better. is the 6800 ultra the best video card for the 6 series?

thanks

Just buy a 7800 GT it's better then an ultra and it's also the same amount of money. Stay away from ati's x8** series.

I'd say the X800XT and 6800Ultra are about the same. Yes the 6800Ultra is the best in the GeForce 6 series. However, it is being phased out and its almost impossible to find one. Its also not worth buying because you can take a 6800GT and overclock it to 6800Ultra speeds.

I agree with powerslave, go for the 7800GT. It destroys both the 6800Ultra AND X800XT (the 7800GT even "destroys" the X850XTPE). 7800GT is $300 ($270 after mail-in rebate).

you guys are all saying yay yay get the 7800GT....what if the guy doesnt even have PCI-E ???

anyways...i would go the 6800ultra :)

sorry if u mentioned earlier about having pci-e or not..i just couldnt see it in the post :p

Yea don't waste your money on any of those cards you suggested. They both get owned by the 7800GT, which is cheaper! Do yourself a favor and buy the 7800GT ;)

i dont have pci-e nor can afford to buy a new mobo and cpu. i was asking this due to that fact haha. thanks for the insight though. the x800xt is 299 so i guess ill go with the ati version.

I'd rather personally just get enough money to upgrade fully. You don't want to have the X800XT in a year or so and wished you had gotten different.
I would just -
buy an amd 3000
msi k8n neo4-f mobo
6800gs or 7800gt
= like 420$ - 490$
But it also kinda depends on your ram speed and such

ati is bad....bad drivers....go nVidia.....

told u guys he might not have PCI-E but you all say yay 7800GT :p

neways if you can find one get the 6800ultra or a 6800GT :)

By the time you dish out the money to get a 6800GT or 6800 ultra AGP, you're already close to getting a new PCI-E board and such. It's not worth overpaying for a 6800GT AGP that will cost you over $300 when you can get a PCI-E 6800GS, which is just as good for $200. See my point? You should just save up a little more for a PCI-E setup and believe me, you'll be happier in the end.
