The whole concept of bottlenecking can one explain it? Would a 7800GT with a AMD X2 4400+ bottleneck?

It will run on today's hardware, but like i've said, sh*tty, very sh*tty. Most people underestimate how demanding this engine is going to be. This is also why so many people are jumping ship on PC gaming and moving to the Xbox360 and Playstation 2. As I said in another thread, UT2007 is going to get most of its market from its Xbox360 version. Its going to be a reward to play it on the PC.

I run FEAR awesome like on my 6800GT. Why are you having so many problems?
I let FEAR auto detect. 1024x768, high texture quality, high effects, bacicly high everything except volumetric lighting and soft shadows, and 4x af. this is what fear autodetects for me. when I run the preformance test the avg fps is 63, the minimun 38, and maximum 137. 0% under 25fps 6% inbetween 45 and 30 or whatever, and 94% above 45fps. now these results would seem good but in reality the game playes at about 30-40fps for me, and I can notice the choppyness at these low framerates.

I don't underestimate it, that is why I am waiting for the G80/R580 generation to upgrade my video card. I will also get a PhysX card.

Yes and no. All videocards bottleneck at some point or another, so yes. But you'll reach the FPS limit of the game before that happens, so no.

Med settings on a 7800GTX-256MB is hardly shitty.

And Xbox360 and PS3 > All.

Those med settings is at 1024x768. Unless you have a 17" or 19" CRT, that isn't going to do you any good. Plus, even then, 1024x768 looks like crap with no AA.

Low - Anything on 800 x 600

Low Mid-end - 1024x768
High Mid-end - 1280x1024

High - 1280x1024 Maxed out, or anything 1600x1200.
