Explorer freezing/closing

Whenever i open certain folders on my computer explorer will either close the window and restart explorer or it will just freeze and i will have to do it manually...i tried restoring all folder defaults and didnt work..It only happens when i open certain folders containing large video files as far as i can tell...Any ideas?

I had a similar issue long ago - my resolution was to either turn off the Anti-Virus protection or set it to scan 'program files and documents' rather than 'all files'.

Note: I was using McAfee AV
