after "starting over" on my hdd by reformatting it several times, i was wondering if there would be any long-term effects to reformatting over and over and repartitioning. So for future knowledge, is it bad to do this?

thanks

Well, not really. If you do it a ton!!! then it could shorten the life of the drive, but for the most part you can do it as many times as you need.

You can format thousands of times. Windows "full format" wil also do a checkdisk, so it would kill your drive earlier than a regular format wich only takes a few seconds. But you can still format thousands of times or more.
