HI,
I am having problems accessing the bios. On the first screen I can see reading memory detecting HD and DVD burner fine, and once i click on delete to access bios the next screen i just have a blinking dot.
Now the computer accesses windows xp home fine, although it would freeze sometimes on the windows boot and needs to be restarted, but once windows is loaded, it is rock solid.
I have tried to update bios that didnt help.
Unplaged everything leaving only CPU, MEM, GRAPHIC CARD-nothing
Switched the memory that didnt help.
I am thinking its the motherboard!?
The specs are
S 939 ASUS A8ne-FM
Athlon64 3000+
WD 160GB Sata HD
MSI RX600XT graphic card
1gb mem
500w power supply

Thank you.

i did, i forgot to mention it.
I did it by taking the battery out turn the pc on and shut it down put the baterry back in. Is this the right technique?

Shouldn't turn on computer without battery in. Leave computer off, take battery out for like 3-5 mins then put it back in then repower up the computer, you may have to hit F1 then Delete to access CMOS Setup.

F1 to say "Ok" to the Checksum error and delete to access CMOS Setup.

pressing f1 after taking the baterry out did nothing and still i can't access bios

thanks for the help

yeah it boots fine..
Only F8 works for boot menu...
The windows loads fine, sometimes it would freeze on the select user window, and needs to be restarted

That makes no since at all.

What kind of keyboard are you using?

IR?

Check your manual on CMOS Setup.

Have you ever accessed the CMOS set up before?

on the manual it says to move the jumpers so i did that and nothing
I am clueless too. Could it be the battery?
I am not sure if bios was accessed before as my customer did the installation
