not really too sure why you spec'd your system when it's about 4 times as much as he'd like to spend.

lol crazy stuff, If your not confident about building a comp then by all means buy a dell for $300 you cant complain. If your spending more than that say $400-$600 then Id build your own as its more cost affective. the dell`s for $300 are excellent for thier price but anything above that they tend to rip you off.

If you can do as other suggested and get it built for you from a website.

And I also dont see the point in bragging about how good your specs are when the person is wanting advice to buy a cheap pc.

I am looking to upgrade

I would like to upgrade my HP Digital Entertainment Center z540's video card. I simply would like to upgrade for a better gaming experience. The video card I am looking at is the eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GT CO 256MB PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, VIVO. I have recently looked inside the z540 and it appears that this particular card will not fit, or will it? To me it doesnÂ’t look like it will fit inside the computer, but that is my question...will it fit? Also if the card does not fit are there compact versions of the card on the market and if not, would it be possible to purchase a regular pc case and transfer my HP z540's components to that one?

Thanks
Samuel

wtf? don't hijack my thread, make your own.

So should I go with socket 478 (I think it's called) or socket 939? Also, AGP or PCI-E? I know s939 and PCI-E are better but I was thinking maybe I should get an AMD Sempron and an AGP card to save money since gaming will not be a major thing for me.

socket 478 is intel and socket 939 is AMD Id go for socket 939 with a sempron 64 2800+ although Id prefere to go for an AMD althon 64 3000+ as its not much more. Although its your call you could go for socket LGA775 if you dont do much gaming as intels are better at application work. If you go for that get a Intel Pentium 4 630 socket LGA775 Prescott core at 3.0GHz.

Well I put together a system on ibuypower and this is what I came up with,

case - NZXT Trinity Black ATX

power supply - NZXT PF-500 500 Watt

processor - Athlon-64 3000+ s939

motherboard - Asus A8N-E nVidia nForce4-Ultra

memory - Corsair-Value or Major Brand 512MB DDR-400 PC3200 Memory Module

video card - PCI-Express 16x Nvidia Geforce 6200 with TurboCache supporting 256MB w/DVI + TV Out Video

hard drive - S-ATA Seagate 80 GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache

CD/DVD Burner - NEC ND-3540A Dual Format/Double Layer 16X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW

sound - 3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard

speakers - 600W PMPO 3 PCS Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System

monitor - ViewSonic 17" VX724 TFT LCD 4 ms

total - $868

any good?
