monitor not working

I was just on the computer, I leave it for like 5 mins. and when I come back, the monitor is off and makes this clicking sound. I try turning on the monitor but it doesn't. So then I unplugged it, and plugged it back, it still won't turn on and it still makes the clicking sound. Does this mean the monitor is broken?

are all of the cables hooked up?
are they loose?
are you sure your computer is not in sleep/hibernation?

Yes all the cables are connected and not loose, and the computer was not in hibernation mode

do you have any other computers to try it on?
if the monitor fails to work on other computers, i would just chalk it off as being a dead monitor.

OK, I just tried it on another computer I had, and the same thing happened. When I plugged it in and it just started making the same clicking noise. Just plugging it in, makes the noise w/o turning the power button on. So does this confirm the monitor broken. And if so how did it brake, I just left it for 5 mins.

it could be a number of things. But your monitor is most likely shot.

is the monitor lcd or crt ???
