Sound Problems

I have AC97 On-Board Sound! I have tired so many differnt drivers (Realtek, VIA, C-Media) none of them work. The driver installs correct (except for the C-Media) but the sound does not work. All the drivers I downloaded where not WHQL by Microsoft. So I do not know what driver I need to install in order to make this work. If anyone tell me what to do that would be great!

http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/viaac97.html .......The driver is here.......it might work....if it doesn't go to Best Buy Or newegg.com and buy a new sound card they will run you about 10-15$.....

Do you have sound enabled in your BIOS.

Try the bios idea, I have AC97 onboard sound and its PATHETIC. I'd recommened going to walmart and buying the cheapest PCI card you can because jesus...I've never had so many problems with onboard sound. You have to yell for people to hear you over your microphone.

there could be a jumper on the motherboard.

I remember having this problem with a customers computer in the past.I cant remember the driver that finally worked.

see the thing is i believe AC 97' is not a specific adapter. it's just an adapter that meets specific requirements. the different drivers are virtually limitless.
