do i need to take my mobo out from case and do this? (i really hope not....)
and ive seen a site or forum page that shows detailed instruction how to change the thermal paste..but i cant find it anymore...
if u guys know what site it is by any chance, pls let me know.
thx

if your putting it on the cpu, just take the cpu out of the socket if you would like, you dont have to. i didnt

put some on the cpu and put the heatsink on top, but you dont need to take it out, just dont get it on any of the capacitators or on the board ....

You should remove/clean the old thermal compound for the AS5 to work to its max. The oil, which is engineered to not evaporate, will fill in the microscopic valleys in the metal and significantly reduce the effectiveness of any subsequently applied thermal compound.
Instructions are provided on that website. It tells you which cleaners to use and etc. But, no you don't need to take out the motherboard to do this. Good Luck!
