I am building a computer on Monday that has these parts:
Epox 8k5a2+ mboard
AMD 2400XP
1 gig of Samsung DDR PC-2700 ram
MSI GeForce Ti 4200 128 meg card
(1) Seagate 80 gig hard drive
(1) Maxtor 60 gig hard drive
(1) 52X CD-Rom
(1) 48x16x48

I am wondering if I should use the Raid controller on the board to drive any of my IDE devices. Also does anyone know where I can find somewhere that will tell me the best Bios setting for this setup?

Thanks

I would keep the RAID disabled unless you plan on using it for that.

I would use the 80Gb on Primary Master 60Gb on Primary Slave

Burner on Secondary Master and CDROM on secondary Slave.

IF you use raid,, yoou will get more preformance..

thats not 'strictly' true there is only a real noticed drive speed when your using scsi raid. tbh for what you need the raid will probably be more hassle and unless this is gonna be used as a v. important server why waste the time

Actually you are incorrect, using IDE raid, will show a noticable improvement. I use it on some of my boxes at home and the render time is DEFINITLY signifigantly slower without it. using 0+1 wont help much, but I like the added backups.
