Because there is no onboard connector. On a normal PC motherboard not ment for servers, there are no Onboard SCSI Interfaces.

You have to add an Expansion card. A PCI SCSI card.

Unless you buy a board with onboard SCSI interface.

Unless you buy a board with onboard SCSI interface.
That means with this type of motherboard (server board) I can plug in a cable that can connect more that one drive ( 8 or 16 depend),,,Am I right ? unlike IDE, we can connect 2 drives (devices) for each IDE (primary and secondary),,,total 4 deviced.

2- How many onboard SCSI interfaces normally come with motherboard (server board) ?

Ya IF you buy a server board.

But seriously if your really interested read the first link I gave you, it has everything you need to know.

The ID is for each drive or controler.
Now If I have got server board with SCSI interface onboard, and I pluged in cable to that onboard interface , the cable can connect up to 8 drives (devices).

Then I connected 3 drives to that cable (HD1, HD2, CD Rom).

What does the ID for these devices look like ?
