Good move. I was wondering why no one was suggesting that in the first place. Usually a poor quailty/generic heatsink-fan would allow temps of 5-10 degrees above normal. Really high temps like you were seeing is amost always caused by either a nonworking fan or the heatsink not being properly seated.
