Well today I finally received my computer from Dell for work. It a XPS 200 Dual Core 2.8 ghz PD, 180gb SATA, 20" Wide screen Dell LCD Monitor. Now, it came with MCE 2005. Come to find out, I cant join a domain. But I can still access the server, etc. But I need it to the domain. I looked it up and they say MCE 2005 can't not join a domain with an active directory. Has anybody got a hack to do this, like maybe taking a file from XP Pro, etc? I can still access my email on the exchange server but it needs to be on the domain.

the one thing that MCE 2005 don't have. the ability to join a domain. it's easy to fix though

Insert Windows XP CD.

Skip updating process by clicking 'Cancel' or by pressing 'Esc'
After installation, acknowledge success msg. by clicking 'Ok'

Specify key name 'BANANA' and click OK
Expand: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > BANANA > WPA > MedCtrUpg
On the right-hand side, double-click IsLegacyMCE value
Change selected value to 1 and click Ok. (THAT IS NOT AN L!)
Click on BANANA subkey (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE).
File > Unload Hive. Confirm.

At boot menu, select 'Windows XP Media Center Edition'

I think, myself, this is a good safety precaution since you need a password and username and domain name to even get into the server. If someone was to hack the our computer, with the domain attached, they can take whatever but it would be harder my new way I found out

Well I would but I never used MCE 05 before so I want to look around in it and see what its all about. Plus, I wanna try that Eric said, i like doing that kind of stuff....
