DVD writing speed problem

I have a LG DVD rewriter thats 16x, and when I burn things with Nero Express or DVD Shrink, the only speed I can choose is 4x - the programs do not let me pick any other speeds, the DVD-R i'm using is 16x as well,.... Is there a way to change the 4x to something higher?

Nero won't let you change the speed ?

Are you sure that the writer isn't just a 4x writer ?

im sure, on the box it says 16x DVD+R write, and 16x DVD-R write,

Check nero drive speed

you have to wait until your dvd-r maker come out with a firmware to recognize that media at 16x speed or you can buy different media. verbatum is good media that most burners recognize at the fastest speed
