I had this posted on basic computer Building/Buying but I may get more input here

I just posted my specs and the question was brought up about the actual cost:value ratio of pc4000 to 3200 RAM.

This would be for my pretty high performance computer and I was planning on overclocking my x2 3800 to match the speeds of the ddr500 pc-4000...

THE QUESTION IS!: Would it be better to buy the slower ram and overclock each of them to match eachother?

Would I be able to overclock 3200 Ram to 4000 speeds and stats?

Any ideas for high quality stuff to go .5ghz preferably air cooled

if you spend alot of money on good 3200 RAM, you should be able to overclock it pretty well with careful voltage adjustments. however, if you spend alot of money on half-way decent 4000 RAM, you won't have to overclock it or adjust any voltages.

i guess it just boils down to how much of a challenge you want
