I have a laptop with an external PCI express slot and i was thinking of finding a way to hook up a 7800 to it. I've seen an external box to expand pci express but it was 2 grand. Has anyone ever tried to connect a video card to a laptop externally before?

Besides a power supply what parts are available to create my own version of that product? I'll need to plug the 7800 into something, then connect it to a pci express card that will slide into the slot in the laptop. I hope i am making sense, i need to study this a bit more but hopefully some will understand what i want to do. I think it will be pretty cool if i could pull it off, it will be my project over winter break.

the link shows a PCI-E to PCI box
if you want to hook up another video card, don't get one in PCI. PCI-E or AGP are the only video cards worth getting.

is your Laptop's external PCI-E slot a 16X?
PCI-E video cards are only made for 16X slots. you won't be able to run it in a 4X or 1X slot.
