DirectX 9.0b won't install

I've been trying to install direct x 9.0b as I need it to play Knights of the Old Republic, but whenever I try to install it Windows tells me that:

"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo Testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.
This software will not be installed. Contact your System Administrator."

It doesn't give me the option it normally does, to continue anyway. I've tried many different copies of Direct X so it's not the file. Please Help, it's really frustrating.

Are u installing it as an administrator.. U'll need to login into an admin account before u install it ..

Also try killin' all other processes before installin' DX9

I'm on as the administrator, and i've just tried it with as many things closed as possible, but it still won't work.

did u try installing it in safe mode ? just see what it says.
