Graphics Card Help Please

Hello, I have Windows XP and I recently bought a video card on sale but I am not sure how to determine if it is compatible with my computer. The new graphics card is an 256MBATI Radeon X 700 Pro, AGP 8X/4X. Thanks in advance!!

Do you have AGP?

I think the X700 is PCI Express only unless they added an AGP version.

Gateway 5200S 3.2GHz Pentium 4, runs on Windows XP

OK. I have found a bit of a problem.

According to Gateway's specifications for the 5200 series says that it doesn't have a graphics slot at all.

According to Gateway's specs for the motherboard that came with the 3.2 P4, it has a PCI-E slot.

I guess you're gonna have to open up your case and check it.

Both sources say that your comp uses PC400 RAM, up to 4 gig in 4 slots.
