Heres a little background:

I was originally going to get a prebuilt computer for christmas, but after getting advice on another forum to build it myself to save money and make it better. i decided i would build it myself.

So, i will be playing a couple of simulation games on it (Sims 2, Sim City 4. MS flight sim) and was wondering if you guys had 600 to spend and make it work with these games, what all would you get? Also what is a good case?

Also, am i asking too much to want to get it for under 600?

Thanks
Chad

A half-way decent video card will be the most important I would think. If you run games at high resolutions. I managed to *build a decent computer that I am sure would run those games.

*I haven't built it yet but it is ordered.

Go on NewEgg and make yourself a wishlist of everything you need.

Here is mine. Everything but the videocard is fine. I am replacing the video card with a nice NVidia card.

Has everything except a monitor. I was very pleased with the price.

Hope this helps. Also If you use a setup similar to mine, spend the extra money on a good video card.

:s If you save up 100$ more, then you could get a pretty decent system.

MSI K8N Neo4-F pci-e 85$
6600GT Pci-e 100-140$
amd 3000 socket 939 venice core - 140$
1Gb valueselect or something - 70-80$
Case (you choose) - 40$
Powersupply - fps 450w - 50$
dvd rom optical drive - 25$
western digital sata 80gb harddrive 7200 rpm 8mb cache - 60$
soundblaster live! soundcard - 30$
extras - 50$ (like keyboard, cables, mouse, etc.)
----------

if you don't need it, take out the extras or downgrade the ram to try to fit under 600$.
Note these prices are estimates and shipping would be added on to the final price
