Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management

Then right click the drive you want to change and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."

You may have to kinda mess with drive letters to get it to C (like rename current C drive "X" or something then change and change "X" to something more appropriate).

Itll boot fine.

there is no garuantee this will work. you may end up having to reinstall XP should this fail (which would be easier to do & accomplish the same task). backup all data to another volume or storage media before proceeding:

a better recommendation is connecting another physical hard disk to your computer, backup data to it than disconnect it. delete all partitions and make 1 primary partition and an extended partition with 1 logical drive on the target disk.

this ensures your problem will NEVER happen again. format and install winXP. use winXP to format the logical drive, reconnect your backup disk and copy files back over. computerhope.com has an FDISK simulator and also:
