quick driver question

Is it necessary to uninstall previose video drivers before installing new ones?

I have a 6600gt and was planning to update to the new forceware driver.

Under Add/Remove programs menu on XP, i pressed the uninstall button for - nvidia drivers -.

There were several options-
-Remove all components except Display Drivers
-Remove all components including Display Drivers
-Remove The Following (checkmark to remove it)
-Nvidia display driver
-Nvidia ethernet driver components
-GART driver
-IDE driver
-nforce PCI management driver


If it is necessary, which one do i do?

I normally just install over the previous.

Yeah I used to install just over the old one, until people on forums seemed to think you should remove the previous version up to yuo. Choose Nvidia display driver that`ll uninstall your drivers for you to upgrade to the new version.
