power problems

I have just recently purchased a 450 watt poer supply, but it didn't come with a power cord. I tried to use my other power cords that powered my smaller power supplies(200, 230, etc) but they all failed in powering the psu. Do i need a certain kind of power cable for this 400 wat psu or wut?

I dont think you need anything special. The power cords from the previous power supplies should work. Check to see if your new power supply is set to the correct voltage and is on.

oh.... my bad. You c i'm not very familiar with the more high-end systems. So i thought that the power supply would turn on right away when you plug it into an outlet. But, i just figured it out; that you need to turn the power supply on and hit the power button on the case too. It won't just turn on really quick and go off like the weaker psu did. Thankyou for your help though.
