Some of you guys may remember me - i wanted a good spec pc to be made for me not being overpriced too much. However that was 4 months ago and better specs might be available and perfer UK pc sites such as ebuyer.

the specs look pretty sound. not so sure about the prices though. sorry at the moment i have neither the brain capacity nor the time to convert them to australian dollars.

I have been looking at that ATI x1800 XT it looks pretty good - is it one of the best? or would you recommend different

If i did choose this would you recommend a different motherboard?

two suggestions, though...

1. get 2 gigs of ram, games are starting to use that much memory
2. get an eVGA 7800GTX instead, better card and they have a "step-up" program

edit: about the X1800XT, i would not get it, instead wait a few weeks until the price of the new 512mb 7800GTX drops down. THEN, get it cuz $700 on a video card is absolutely ridiculous

The price of the 512mb 7800GTX is not coming down any time soon. basicly, here is the order to get your video cards in (from best to worst):

512MB 7800GTX
X1800XT
256MB 7800GTX
7800GT
X800GTO2 (unlocks to X850XTPE, for the price, it's a really good deal)
6800GS

I wouldn't get anything below the 6800GS.
