I'm just posting builds here that I have individually helped other people with.

I think it has to do with the 8M cache. That's really the only difference from any other drive. I have (2) of the Plextor PX-716AL/SW drives. They are slot loading with 8M caches. The first one I bought was $139 and the other was $119. I know, I know... why spend that much money on optical drives? Well, I love the slot loading feature. After I bought one, I thought why not have dual drives? It's a waste of money, but oh well. I work for a living and buy whatever I want.

Whats the deal with this? Why is this so great and so freakin expensive?
Because it has 8MB of cache, and it's the only SATA optical drive. A plus if you don't want any of those big bulky and ugly ribbon cables in your PC.
