Need new Desktop and laptop! *apple?*

Hi everyone,

I hope You all are having a great thanksgiving

I am new here, and dont want to just leech of of you for info but i would appreciate some help.

I have just sold my Dell Precision M70 Workstation for $2500. It was my baby. But now i need a new computer. I am thinking of getting a Mac. *cringe*. I would like a Dell and a Mac. I just can decide what models. I would like a desktop and a laptop, one from Dell and the other from Apple. The laptop, i would like to be protable and the desktop powerfull. Total I would like to spend no more then about $3200. I like having bragging rights about my machines!

If anyone could take a few moments to give me some pointers and suggest some configurations, I would Greatly appreciate it!

I WOULD NOT buy a Dell desktop. If you MUST get a Dell, get a laptop.

Apple, on the other hand, makes good laptops and desktops. The iBooks and Mac Minis are very nice

hmm... that is interesting. I have a question for you.. since you seem like a die hard Mac guy Do you think The Mac Mini really has any power? If I were to get the 1.42Ghz model? Is that really a serious computer or just eye candy?

Depends on your definition of eye candy. Compared to the upper end PowerMacs, it is. But, compared to some Windows boxes, it has more memory and the OS loads and runs much faster.
