downgrading

thats what my first post was about... it wont let me reformat because im downgrading it wont boot off the cd or anything

Honestly if you can't boot to a disk at all, you won't even be able to install the OS once you have reformatted.

do you have any other Disk you can check ?
Is this disk that you are "Unable" to boot from, legit ? or is it a burnt disk ?

the disk im using is the one that cam with the computer its legit... but i think the reason it wont let me boot from it is because i already have a newer version

Try uninstalling Sp2

Either you have some weird disc from some strange manufacturer that isnt bootable, or your cd rom doesnt like the media, or you cd rom is a piece or who knows what else but anyways you could try making a boot disc, either a floppy or cd-rom if you want to test out your system, and then from the command prompt run the setup program on the windows cd you have. I dont see why that shouldnt work but if it doesnt it shouldnt waste too much of your time.
