I am going to buy an LCD monitor. I use AutoCad all day long and plays games all night. A big mixture of games but the FPS games are probably hardest on the monitor.
I know gamers don't like LCD monitors. I'm doing it anyway, I'm hoping the LCD will be less painful to my eyes.

I am looking at the Acer 1951B
Brightness: 400 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 700:1
Display Colours: 16.7 Million
Display Type: SXGA
Response Time6ms

The other choice is this new Viewsonic VX922
Brightness 270 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio 650:1
Response Time 2ms gray-to-gray (avg.); 2ms white-black-white (typ)

The contrast ratio and the brightness stats are slightly lower on the Viwsonic. I also noticed they don't list Display Color stats for the Viewsonic. This may meen it displays 16.2 million.

If you have 16.7 million colors that is an 8 bit panel right?

Has anyone seen these monitors up close, better yet have you played games on them?

The price is within 30.00 of eachother. I can't decide which to get.

I believe Xerox monitors are some of the best for the price. I own Xerox XL592Db and just purchased two new Xerox XG-91D 19" LCD's. Quality is great, design kicks ***, and the price is not bad at $399.99.
Just check the reviews for Xerox monitors.

I would recommend the vp930bf mva Viewsonic monitor. Good for gaming and better than that 922 for everything else.

You will not notice a difference from 700:1 to 650:1 in contrast ratio, 300:1 is the average for 19' LCD monitors. Go with the 2ms viewsonic, it will be a lot better.
