New laptop hard drive not detected

I have a 1 year old HP z4800 that I put a new 80gig hard drive in. When I tried to load XP I get "no hard drive installed". I double checked the my insatallation which was very simple, opened bios, "no hard drive installed. This is my first time installing HD on a laptop. Did I miss a step. Thanks in advance.

ooh nvm i read wrong.. My gueses is make sure the drive is jumpered right and look up compatability stuff for it.. you could also try manually entering the data for the drive in the bios, cylinders heads etc..
