Sound error!?

Well for some reason yesterday when i logged into my computer, i tried playing a song and got this error from windows media player:

Ill show you another thing thats wrong, i went to Control panel then sound devices etc. .
and this is what it looks like:

I tried everything i can to fix the error, by reinstalling the sound driver, making sure the sound device is working properly, did a virus scan and deleted any virus there is, also adware or spyware deleted, but i still cant fix the sound error, can someone please help me!?

go into device manager under system in the controll panel..and make sure that your sound card isn't disabled...if it is..re-enable it...if it's not there then re-install the drivers

I have tried that, but when i disable and re enable, my speakers makes this weird sound like a twitch and the sound still doesnt work, i tried everything, anything else i can do?

is your audio device PCI or integrated?

I think its integrated.

yes but it might had been because it was out of date when i troubleshooted the problem so i download latest version but not sure if there the one im soppused to have. .

I have compaq athlon xp and i use Soundmax. .

Is it possible that it was disabled in bios?
Maybe a stupid question but I don't know and would be interested in finding out.

weird sound and twitch? make sure it's plugged in to the right jack..
anyhow what Brand/model is the sound card. if it's intigrated.. What motherboard do you have..


need to know so i can find proper driver link
