This is my first build and i dont have too much experience with hardware other than what ive read and what my friend has taught me. I want to do some gaming like BF2, HL2, F.E.A.R(if possible) and multimedia apps. I also dont have too much to spend and would like to keep the price around $1000. These have been recommended to me:

Case:

Like i said before i really dont know much and would appreciate any help as to if this would be a good combo. Thank you

First off, welcome to the site!

Moving on, Aspire PSU's aren't the greatest...check out antec, enermax, fortron, ocz, pc power & cooling.

Also, if u use the search button you should be able to find plenty of previous $1000 budget posts.

Try the eVGA 6800GS if you want to save a couple bucks. It should run F.E.A.R. Maybe not on the highest settings. If you want to run BF2 on high settings, you'll need 2GBs of ram. I've only got 1GB and I have to turn things down to play online. You could also downgrade to a 200GB hard drive or even smaller if you wanted to save even more money. Use that to get more ram or something.

Hell, no the 7800GT is the way to go. Its SO **** cheap at $320 its unbelieveable...

Wow man, thats a crazy good setup, you've got skills ;)

I also suggest changing the power supply to a more reliable brand (Aspire is all about flashy stuff).

Other than that, if you can afford it, you might want to get overclocking RAM. There are ways to overclock the processor without overclocking the RAM, but overclocked RAM can be a substialtial performance booster.

Also concerning the RAM, to run today's games on highest (and trust me, that system will run them on highest, escept for my next poitn) you will need 2 GB of RAM. 1GB will be fine for mid-end playing, but I suggest upgrading to 2 GB as soon as you can raise the fund for it.

**** nice setup for under $1000 :classic:

just buy another set of corsair valueselect sense you already have one in your computer

nice build ;)

but really there is no need for a DFI nF4 ultra-D board when you have valueselect ram which wont OC very well so you could or might as well go with an MSI K8N NEO4-F and its cheaper so you can savce some money there, and if you ever feel like OCing the MSI can OC as well

Thank you for the feedback, on newegg they have acouple of 7800GTs with slightly different specs. Would it make any difference to buy the one with the slightly higher core clock and memory clock? I took your advice and chose a new PSU:

I would eventually like to get new RAM and OC it but when i have the money to do so. Also i have heard of people both praising SLI and others who dislike it, would it be better to get a mobo with that cabability? thank you again

those with higher clocks run slightly faster, but also hotter, but if the card's cooling components work very well, then it might not be a problem. just get eVGA, but not XFX ....

sli is for people who is willing to spend a lot of money...but it doesnt give you a very high performance boost ( i have sli and i can tell you the difference, its not tooo big)
so usually get one 7800GT is already enough to play FEAR on good settings

you bought two 7800GTX 512MB already  i must see some benchmarks and pics

Once again thanks for the advice and took it and decided on getting a 200gb hard drive also from maxtor since i dont really need 300gb of space. Any comments on the PSU? It also seems that the extra 5mhz on the core clock wont make much of a difference and would be a waste of money? I am hoping to buy this stuff soon and would like to be abslotuly positive that what i buy will be good and last awhile.
