I set up an account for a computer in AD and when I went to join the workstation, after typing in a usrname/pw, the following error came up:

" Error: The Credentials Supplied Conflict with an Existing Set of Credentials "

I consulted Windows Knowledge Base and googled it for a minute, but I don't really have time to go sifting through and I wanted to know what you guys thought..thanks

Thanks, but that applies to NT4.0 and I'm running 2k.

These are the only articles I'm finding on the web too, and they don't really apply to my situation, but thanks anyway.

Do you have only 1 admin account on the network ?
Can't you add it to the domain with any .adm account with sufficient prifledges ?

Use any other .adm account you might have in the Administrative group.

excuse me for sounding dumb, but doesn't that mean change the name to something else?

You created an account on the domain that isn't needed. If you delete the account from the domain then try to add the machine it should be fine. The problem is that you think you would need to add it, but you really don't. it's done in the process. As long as the permissions are correct for you to add machines, it' fine.

Good luck
